HOW are we doing it?

   It would be so nice to be able to say we have a small army of field representatives, exploring, investigating and recording the wealth of information we need about RV parks around our country. But we don't. We do have an unknown number of volunteers, some more dedicated than others, who pick up what information they can as they can and, once-in-awhile forward their notes to us. A few of our volunteers are quite dedicated to this project and have worked very hard but I do think that all of them are serious about the need and are sincere in their desire to be of help.
   Do we need more volunteers? Of course.
   Would we like you to become a volunteer? Absolutely!
We used to have a form on which an RV park could be described. That didn't work out so we dropped that approach. The essential information includes the following:
  • location of park (physical address)
  • nearest Interstate highway and exit number
  • distance of park from nearest Interstate exit(s)
  • directions (and cautions for large vehicles)
  • telephone number
  • web site address if any
  • e-mail address if any
  • price range for overnight stay
  • park layout
    • number of RV spaces available (don't count tents)
    • how many acres dedicated to the campground
    • length and width of pull-throughs (if any)
    • length and width of back-ins (if any)
  • park security arrangements
    • fence
    • attendant
    • attended or carded gate
    • roving security patrol
  • utilities available
    • electrical hookups available
    • water hookups?
    • sewage hookups?
    • honey wagon service?
    • dump station available?
  • creature comforts
    • lounge for adults?
    • flush toilets?
    • hot showers?
    • laundry facilities?
    • family center?
    • kids center (e.g., 'game room')?
  • snack bar?
  • groceries?
  • pets okay (breed, size or other restrictions)?
  • Internet available...
    • connect at office or lounge
    • dial-up at your site
    • wide-band at your site
    • Wi-Fi hotspots
    • Wi-Fi at your site

   You make what notes you can and send them in to us by e-mail or U.S.Mail (addresses below). If you would like to add some comments about the park we would appreciate that, too. We cannot publish derogatory comments but we can remove parks from our web sites. We just aren't allowed to say why.
